We got started a bit late, and so only had time for two movies last night, alas. Ah, well, there's always next time …
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) – For my money, not quite as good as the pulp purity of the original, though Indy ends up with a bit more agency, and it's still a faboo time. (http://letterboxd.com/three_star_dave/film/indiana-jones-and-the-last-crusade/1/) [4 of 5]
The Usual Suspects (1995) A decent crime story wrapped up in a nifty conspiracy tale. (http://letterboxd.com/three_star_dave/film/the-usual-suspects/) [3.5 of 5]
Good times.

Last crusade is silly almost to the point of being self parody… That's not necessarily a bad thing, but you're right, it doesn't compare to the near perfection that is Raiders Of The Lost Ark
The Usual Suspects is just flat out, a fantastic movie…. It also has one of the best ever "Edited For TV" quotes of all time…. "Give me the keys you fuzzy sock sucker!" LOL
I hated Last Crusade when I first saw it. It wasn't until college when I understood that it was a comedy and was able to enjoy it.
The comedic elements are played up a bit from Raiders (though that film has plenty of them), but there's enough derring-do and drama to keep it from being an outright comedy. _Last Crusade_ gets a bit too cute for its own good in too many places, but I still enjoy it.
Still waiting for +Kay Hill to weigh in on these movies and what her reviews are.
