The Planned Parenthood sting video and the inevitable GOP pile-on

It's always a good idea to look at the uncut footage whenever anyone comes up with an edited "sting" video. Sometimes the edits are just for time. Sometimes … well, they discredit the thesis, the story being told by the sting, which is why they're edited.

Not surprisingly, various and sundry GOP presidential candidates have decided to ignore that, given a chance to dogpile on abortion in general and Planned Parenthood in particular.

  1. As they damn well ought to be…did you not see the video? Each and every individual selling body parts ought to not see the sun for the the longest prison sentence allowed. I understand that progressive/liberals have no value concerning value of human live,…well, hell…it is not surprising…..If you have seen the video of that Dr stuffing her face and selling the parts does not that is disgust. She reminds me of the faces of the female Nazi guards at trial. let justice under law be done.

  2. +Stan Pedzick Yup.

+Mr Bill SC If you actually read the above, you'll see that (a) the discussion (at least on the PPA individual's part) was not about "selling body parts" but about addressing the costs of body parts donated to research, and (b) doctors talk about gross stuff, even over meals, which, to the extent that I have involvement in the medical industry, I can confirm.

That the video was edited to obscure the former and exploit the latter shows that, while the actual situation says nothing about how "progressive / liberal have no value concerning value of human live," it does speak to the honesty and integrity of the folk who produced this, if not the folk who seize upon it as a cause celebre.

  3. And poor Pedzick does not understand when the face stuffing seller of human parts was doing her sales pitch.,…what does one expected from an organization which the founder espoused eugenetics…removal of black folks..aren't you proud ? And it is illegal to sell human body parts and let the law do what it needs to do…I bet your mother would be proud to know that you are OK to sell baby parts.

  4. And with that, Mr Bill, your time in my comments section is at an end. But I'll add (for the record) a few notes:

    1. "Face stuffing" — clearly you haven't read any of the above.

    2. "Eugenics" — Sanger did believe in "eugenics" in some fashion (it was a popular belief in the early 20th Century, peaking in the 20s and 30s, and was held by many other notables such as Alexander Graham Bell, Teddy Roosevelt, the National Academy of Sciences, quite a number of state legislatures, Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw, etc.). But “eugenics” meant many things to many people. Sanger’s emphasis was on immigration reform and forced sterilization to keep the most "feebleminded" population of the United States as low as possible; she firmly rejected both race-based eugenics and euthanasia as a eugenic tool, and condemned the Nazis’ programs and prejudices long before the war. (Planned Parenthood, on its part, formally rejects Sanger’s eugenic positions.)

    3. Yes, it is illegal to sell body parts. It's very clear that's not what's happening here, especially if one looks at the video beyond he carefully edited version.
