a/k/a "Rumors of my unemployment have been (slightly) exaggerated."
My current employer has offered me some additional project work that will extend my lay-off date from this coming Monday to the beginning of September.
Which is a bit of a relief (or at least it pushes back the images of living in a soggy refrigerator box in a back alley for a while) and it gives me some additional time on my job hunt. Which is going slowly, but should start accelerating right about now.

Qualified yay!
Nice.
Great! Time to pay off the new kitchen?
+Paula Moore Heh. That money is aside in its own account (thank heavens).
+Dave Hill Smart! Our garage project was rejected by the city planners. We've revised it and resubmitted. In the meantime, we keep putting away more money for it.
I'm almost indifferent at this point. We can rebuild the current structure without questions. Adding an ADU is the problem, and I could live without it.
+Paula Moore Coding and inspection stuff can sometimes be maddening, that's for sure. Stay flexible, take deep breaths, keep some champagne on hand for small triumphs, keep saving.
+Dave Hill After the last project, which involved moving the whole damned house, I can handle home improvement projects with a zen-like calm.
