The state of Alaska, wherein Mt McKinley Denali dwells, has been pushing for the mountain to be renamed on a federal level for years. It's already been formally renamed on a state level. And the person pushing the hardest for it is a Republican Senator, Murkowski.
That John Boehner and the Ohio contingent, the home of the sadly assassinated president, are harrumphingly appalled by this is yet more indication that the ostensible GOP love of state's rights and local control will always take a back seat to other considerations (not least of which is harrumphing over something That Man in the White House has done).
Obama vs. McKinley
Alaskans praise the move to rename America’s tallest mountain, even as Republicans vowed to fight it.
