Movie Review: "John Wick" (2014)

Stylish but ultimately empty hitman-out-for-vengeance shoot-em-up. Those who like this sort of thing will find it the sort of thing they like.

  1. I'll admit it. I loved this movie, and I usually can't stand Reeves. There were no shocks or twists. I felt sorry for the dog as soon as I saw it because I knew what was coming. Didn't feel sorry for the bad guys, although I knew what was coming. Probably one of the best action movies around these days. It would've felt right at home in the 80s, with Die Hard and Rambo… and maybe even Death Wish before that.

  2. The gorgeous, stylish, snappy, well-acted, mythologized movie is exactly to my taste.
Wick, Silverado, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Man From Uncle, Mrs. Pettigrew Lives For a Day, The Wind and the Lion, Snatch, Out of Sight, some Tarantino, some Marvel movies… like that.

  3. I liked it when the car thieves took the car (which was very awesome) to John Leguizamo and he was like, 'hell no. You know who that car belongs to?' That's a good clue that you just boosted the wrong ride.
