Is anybody particularly surprised that the passports found with the Paris attackers are fakes?
'Authorities believe the passports are all fake, and were forged either in Syria or Turkey. Officials with the European Union agency Frontex, which is responsible for border controls, say the number of people trafficking in fake Syrian passports is rising. Meanwhile two other bombing suspects have been identified as carrying false Turkish passports. […] Four of the five attackers so far identified were French citizens.'
Da'esh has made it clear that they don't like refugees fleeing to the West, and want that to stop.
'Islamic State has frequently said one of its goals is to stop refugees from fleeing Syria by any means possible, and tells refugees they are committing "a major dangerous sin" by attempting to flee the war and entering countries where they will be assimilated or integrated into "Christianity, atheism or liberalism." The group has used photos and video of children who have drowned in its propaganda, telling refugees they are throwing away their "lives and souls" by going to Europe.'
What better way to prevent refugees than to get the West paranoid about them and closing their doors? Or, if folk insist on fleeing the bloodshed back home, to get them feel as persecuted by the West as they think they were in Syria. Either result is breeding ground for future militants.
So by refusing refugees (or making refugee status religion-based), it would seem that those GOP Governors, presidential candidates, etc., are all doing exactly what Da'esh would like them to do. Isn't that swell?

Since Friday, I've seen claims that at least some of the Paris terrorists were Syrian refugees. It turns out that that Da'esh probably used fake Syrian passports to paint the refugees as terrorists, rather than as the victims of Da'esh.
And why would Da'esh want to do that?

Police believe attackers used forged passports to stigmatize refugees
There is evidence the Syrian passport found near the body of one of the Paris attackers is a fake.
