So +Kay Hill finally got a Snow Day off. Of course, it's the first day of finals, which will bollix up everything else, but, hey, Snow Day!

Stan's company is on a two hour delay, but his boss told him to be in my 8am, cause he got a class to teach and they students will, of course, be there on time. Ha!

The students are here, mostly because they stayed in a hotel up on 120th.
Rumors of closing, and the notification program had a massive fail.
Don of course says we're staying to teach the people.

CU students had their on-campus exams cancelled and their grades will be based on the work they have already completed.Seems fair to me…

AHS kids will be doing 4 final blocks each day this week (Wed-Fri) instead of three, to make up for today.

The provision was left over from a less tolerant time in Colorado. Though Obergefell rendered it moot, #SCOTUS rumblings about possibly overturning that decision led to Colorado voters overwhelmingly pass a repeal initiative last year.

I feel bad for all the #vets who are facing foreclosure due to the #Trump regime arbitrarily yoinking a VA debt program without replacing it (or even sharing if they *will* replace it).

On the other hand, I wonder how many of those vets voted for the regime, on the assumption that it would be only layabout libs who suffered under the new austerity.

Sad, though not surprised, to see #NaNoWriMo .org shutting down. They helped me in doing a lot of the #writing I've done. While they made some serious missteps in recent years, I'll remember their efforts before that with fondness.

I Am Old Enough To Remember ... when much of the security failure of 9/11 was blamed on the patchwork of incompetent privately-owned companies doing #AirportSecurity , where profit motive incented hiring the lowest-cost workers, rules were different from airport to airport, and nobody had responsibility or accountability.

Not that the #TSA is not without fault, but the idea that if we just go with cut-rate rent-a-cops we can be safe *and* save money is truly laughable.

If one charitably assumes #Trump / #Musk are trying to run #government like a business (a doltish idea, but anyway), then it's clearly the business role of private equity partners, stripping things down, raiding the assets, destroying the good will, sacking the staff, and leaving behind the husk once there's nothing of value left... except maybe the brand, which they can sell to some another firm.
