A good movie, and I want more. And, most importantly, I feel no need to track down J J Abrams and commit violence upon his person, so I think it's a win-win for everyone. This was the Star Wars movie I was hoping for.
4 stars (and a heart) out of 5
[In the linked review, I've tried to talk around plot spoilers as much as possible, but ears that desire to be completely virgin should probably just bookmark this for now. Give it through this coming weekend and we'll talk a bit more openly.]

Excellent summary; and I agree with pretty much everything.
Nice read, thank you. One thing, if you see it again, see it in 2D. There is so much better clarity and smoothness in the fast action sequences – and no Star Destroyer taking your eye out!
Great Movie!
+Austin Perry I know! It is soooooooooo good
+Martin Scott Having seen it once in 3D, I am content with future viewings being in 2D. 🙂
"most importantly, I feel no need to track down J J Abrams and commit violence" I know (hope) you are being facetious. But it's comments like this make true Star Wars fans like me hide from the public, who justifiably see us as entitled little pricks.
Very fair review. I agree with much of it. A lot of people don't recognize that as a part 1 of a trilogy this movie needed to only set the stage and introduce the plot and characters… not answer the problems they presented. This means that VIII is going to be huge plot and character wise. I'm so excited. I loved VII and now I want VIII to bring it.
+Cheryl Mackey Exactly. This is a setup and springboard for future movies, both in the main series and spin-offs. If it were done-in-one, people would be going, "But what will they do now?"
+Jimmy Hauser I am absolutely being facetious, and meant the comment totally tongue in cheek. But, yes, there are some dolts who would say such a thing seriously, and that's truly awful.
You didn't mention one of the returning characters: the Millennium Falcon.
+Scott Randel Good point (and not a spoiler, given the poster 🙂 ).
When the Falcon comes back to the story, we're home, too.
