So in all of the New Year's Eves I've lived in Denver (21 now), +Margie Kleerup and I have only ever been in town for the event once: in 1999, since we all had to go into our offices the next morning for Y2K check-ins. Since the parents-in-law moved out to Colorado this year, we only spent Christmas week in California (staying with my mom, which was lovely), which left us here in town for the turn of the year.
As a result, we ended up doing a small ad hoc NYE gathering: +Mary Oswell & +Stan Pedzick, who stayed over; Jackie & Scott and Scott's brother Kevin, who could have walked over from or back to their house, if needed; and +Jim-Ginger Kleerup, who left early on. Just enough to chit-chat, eat, drink, and be merry.
Oh, and play a few games, including multiple rounds of Betrayal at House on the Hill (in one of which Yours Truly managed to win as the King of the Rats, bwah-ha-ha-squeak!), a new game I got for Christmas, Tokaido (a lot of fun, highly recommended), and, once it was just we and the Pedzwells, a couples game of Password .
+Kay Hill stayed over at her friend Bella's house, and texted us a greeting at Midnight, so we returned the favor.
All in all, a fine way to usher in what I hope will be a less eventful but prosperous and enjoyable New Year.
