Fox News talking heads are shocked, shocked, that Merrick Garland actually spoke at the press conference where Obama announced his nomination to SCOTUS. Egad! It's unprecedented! It's gauche! It's naked politicking! And certainly Ronald Reagan, blessed of memory, would never have allowed anything like that. "A different era," Andrew Napolitano moans, "a different president, different morals, different values, but this was most unusual what we just saw."
Except it was not at all unusual. Reagan himself turned the mic over to nominee Anthony Kennedy to speak, and let nominee Antonin Scalia answer questions from reporters. Other presidents have done the same when announcing nominees.
But, hey, if the Fox guys say it loudly enough, their viewers will doubtless believe it's something awful and scandalous and "Well, what else would you expect from That Man in the White House?" and "Gosh, just another reason for Our Brave Boys in the Senate to block this guy."
Fox Figures Attack Merrick Garland For Speaking Publicly After Being Nominated
+Dave Hill facts do not matter.
+Stan Pedzick Yeah, I know. But I think they matter for some people (self included (I hope)), so pointing out where they are being ignored is still worthwhile windmill tilting.
Dammit! Latest news reports that Obama just took a breath. WTH! We never had problems like that with Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, etc.
+Marty Shaw Obama is using up all our air!
#OutrageMachine
+Dan Eastwood Sure, he keeps claiming he's only taking air from the rich so that everyone else can breathe, but look at how he keeps breathing himself, too. Damned socialist atheist air-breather …
