On the one hand …
… my laptop wasn't really ready.
… there was no phone in my office.
… my office was just converted from "the Old Supply Room" and supposedly had "electrical problems" yesterday.
… my laptop didn't work with the docking station that was there.
… my account had been created, but suspended.
… my email was on the local server, but will be migrated to the cloud tonight.
On the other hand …
… everyone was really friendly.
… everyone was really glad to see me finally there (me, too).
… everyone really helped me in all the problems above.
… I have every indication that things will get better and better.
Good first day. I'm happy I was hired there.

Did your door say "Beware of the Leopard", because if it did you may want to bring your towel with you tomorrow.
Huzzah and hurrah!
Sounds like a fairly typical first day. I have yet to work anywhere where things go smoothly during the first few days.
What? Someone makes your laptop "ready" for you? Are you sure you're really an IT professional? 😀
