Gauging Donald Trump's Cruelty

Or to hearken back to another quote from the McCarthy era, "Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

I don't just think that Trump is a goofball, or that he holds different political opinions from mine. Someone who can say things like this is seriously wrong in the head and the heart — and certainly should not be President of the United States.

Donald Trump’s slander of Captain Humayun Khan’s family is horrifying, even for Trump
This is not a question that needs to be asked in most elections, but it needs to be asked in this one: what kind of person is Donald Trump?

  1. This Man Is being Used!!! I feel for His Loss but to tell another Man to change his Attitude ; doesn't Realize This IS AMERICA!!! Whether we Like it or Not!!! Remember Sir, We have Freedom Of Speech and Free Will!!!

  2. Exploiting that soldier dead had nothing to do with glodal terrorism and vetting refugees for they enter this Country. As matter stands, Hillary insulted other American soldiers by just having a moment of silence for one Islam soldier.

  3. Distract, divert, deflect… Hillary strategy 101.

None of this changes the fact that there are Islamist's in the world that want to kill anyone that does believe as they do. We have an extremely serious problem with the vetting process in America. Recent history should make this plainly apparent.

  4. Teatard running scared when you agree to browbeat a couple whos son fought and DIED for their asses but drool over a chicken shit that took deferments when called on to serve the country only he can make great.sad, really sad people.HILLARY 2016 the only hope America has to survive!!!!

  5. +Sate Anne There are people of all races and ethnic groups committing horrible acts of violence all over the world. The Muslims don't hold title to this behavior any more than other groups. Terms like "Islamic devils" are racist and incendiary. Hillary is much better than Trump. She is qualified, highly intelligence, sane and caring. Trump is none of those.

  6. Where can I get up and cry about all my friends and family members who died for this country? Why is this guy special? Stop pandering to peoples emotions. I have friends of many colors, religious persuasions, who have died in wars. Why isn't anyone crying for them.
Their grown son was a soldier. He knew what he was getting into. He gave his life. Thank you for your sacrifice. That was more than my friends and family got.

  7. +D. Clark- I just went to your profile and saw your posts. I now realize what I have to do.

    W…h…a…t d…o y….o….u m…e…a…n b..y t..h…a…t. t…h…a…t ? ( spoken very slowly)

  8. +D. Clark is obviously a privileged, do gooder who knows what's best for all if us idiots, but we're just to stupid to shut up and listen to their superior opinions. OH GREAT AND POWERFUL SEER OF ALL, PLEASE BESTOW YOUR ENLIGHTENED FAR SUPERIOR OPINIONS ONTO US, YOUR HUMBLE INTELLECTUALLY CHALLENGED FOLLOWERS.

  9. Soldiers die in war. Their job is to win and if they sacrifice their lives trying to achieve this we should thank them for it.
But to single out one soldier because he is of a certain religion is just appalling.
My closest friend in the world lost her grandfather in WW 2. His wife was pregnant when he left. He never got to come home and see his son, or his grandchildren. He never got to experience life, buy a home, go on vacation, do anything we take for granted. Where can I go to have a national audience applaud his sacrifice? Who will build a memorial to him? He was 18 when he died. Does anyone care?

  10. You know, I am actually more amazed by people who perpetuate and further exacerbate off topic, drama inducing, side shows politicians are famous for to have the masses focused on all the wrong subjects, points and arguments. Brace yourselves, for those who don't know me, THIS, is a long comment. A lot to say, so little space to say it in.

Has anyone asked, why the hell was that family even at the Democrat Convention, to begin with? Do you think they have a purpose in our political system? Do you think they were there to be awarded a position in politics? No, the single answer to that question is simple. They were there to create an image, to produce an emotional response that would sell you, the consumers in this case, the services the Democrats are offering.

In reality though, None of the guest, none of the speeches, none of the things taking place in these conventions are anything worth… well… anything. We long knew that the DNC supported Hillary over the people's wishes for Bernie Sanders and the end result, regardless of Bernie getting 100% of the delegates, the DNC would have a secret pack that would override 100% of all the people's votes, stashed away for whoever they supported. On the other hand, the strangest and darnest thing happened with the RNC. They actually tried to support other candidates but the people's wish was honored in the end. Despite opposition at every corner the People spoke harsh enough and loud enough the RNC backed up and basically said, give them what they want. I wasn't expecting that, we all thought in a last desperate moment to stop the Trump movement the RNC would support Ted Cruz to show their willingness to meet people at the middle. But their full support was set on Kasich. People voted for Trump, not Kasich who was the RNC's favorite and the only reason why you saw him stick it out till the end over the other guys. Someone was basically saying, don't turn in yet we'll figure someway to put you up there. But, they just cracked under the massive demand I guess.

So regardless of Trump talking shit, or Hillary being a criminal by all definition, it really doesn't matter. What it boils down to is their principles with the position they will be taking place. Hillary can care less for the Constitution. Too many times, live and unedited I've seen her publicly claim to promise the American people a totalitarian form of Executive Leadership. One where she will take charge, the laws, and all applications of governing into her single hand. She's talked about increasing government. Something a President doesn't have a lick of power over, but if she does it will be at the call and becking of the Executive Branch, not the Legislative. She has openly supported and claimed she will unconstitutionally regulate and if possible out right ban a Right in the Constitution. There are just things that she says that overwhelmingly put her on the wrong end of my linear tolerance for a politician in a position of absolutely NO POWER.

On the other side, you have Trump, who, while is a total ass in personality, he has stated things that make more sense in the business aspect, and honoring of limited power. Our Federal Government has no power no position to tell people how to be socially. So the less Trump cares about that aspect of Governing, the more I can care less if he is sitting in the big chair talking shit about some other politician or celebrity. All I care about, is he going to do the same B.S. every other politician has done? Impose more government regulations (infringing on our rights), force people to one ideology over the other, and overall commit to ruining our economy along side it all. Trumps plan to rework the Tax code is purely needed material, whether it turns out fixing 100% of the problems or just 10% of it doesn't matter. In the end if just 10% of the problem was fixed that's 10% more than before, without having to loose ourselves to a Big Federal Government. While many argue he will be rewarding the big businesses, Hillary's planned market ideology rigs the economical game for only big guys to survive and profit while everyone else dies a slow and horrible financial death. Trump's version at least eases the burden at best, at worse nothing changes and nothing different happens which is still better than adding more crap to the shit fest. Along with the fact that Trump is an actual Business orientated individual, which means better opportunity for actual improvement in relating aspects. Hillary, is a very clever woman in taking what she wants and leaving others out to dry. Between easing the transaction of a Uranium Company in Canada for Russia to buy, all while getting $500,000 dollars for Bill Clinton to give a speech in Moscow and her foundation receiving a multi-million dollar donation from shadowy companies that are tied to Moscow and the sale of that Canadian Uranium company. Which by the way produces weapon grade Uranium, along with the fact that shortly after the events, Russia became openly hostile with Crimea and then Ukraine.

Like Bill Gates who bailed out Apple from total collapse by investing Microsoft Money into Apple, Trump will probably do the same thing. Understanding that competition is healthy and a necessity to survive in the market is key for success. It benefits not just consumers but businesses alike. If just a fraction of that transfers over, again, you have a much better outcome than what Hillary is proposing to do. Once more, if none of that happens, there is no down side to no change, when the changes offered are worse than not changing.

The point of this game is what the candidates plan on doing while in power. Not a question of character or public appearance of character. A long time ago I was presented with the concept of not judging a book by its cover. The presentation involved two individuals. One was a well known dog lover. Constantly enjoyed the company of animals, specifically dogs. Was an artist in youth, did not drink in excess if at all, in public he was never seen drinking much if not required for formalities. Neither was he a chronic smoker. The other candidate enjoyed drinking. Often seen with his glass in public or suspected of being quite heavy when considering a brandy or social event. Although this candidate was well known for his dog, he never showed any sort of equal affection for animals as the first candidate. Based on those limited facts, most people would choose the first candidate. The point is that those shallow facts don't represent the individual at all. Thus the moral of the exercise, don't judge a book by its cover. The first Candidate was Hitler, the second was Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

All this conversation has been, and perpetuates, is classless discussion. Gossip about what one person said over the other, entirely nothing to do with the topic at hand. Who will uphold the Laws best. Who will NOT interfere with your liberties, with your rights most. Who will work to reduce a Federal Governments practice of using powers that it has no rights or jurisdiction of practicing? Which is another way of saying, who will follow the laws. Those are the questions that matter most. Everything else is meaningless. Go ahead, vote for a president that would exterminate an entire culture simply because they don't drink. That's how shallow this argument is. The mother, the family of the wounded, the fallen, do not belong in front of the cameras endorsing someone, unless they want an emotional response conveyed. You think I paid much attention to those who went to Trumps event? Absolutely not, all I care is what and how you intended to do it. Unless they want to use their story, their suffering, as a force for support, at which case anything can be said about their performance and it doesn't mean absolutely anything. A show is a show, no matter how personal it is to someone. You don't make your life public, your suffering public, unless you are trying to force opinion. Because in the end, that's what it is, a performance designed to invoke an emotional response.

Go up to anyone who is mourning the loss of someone, a normal person. Go out and talk with people. How many of them will stutter, or mess up, or need to correct themselves multiple times to convey one idea, to say a single sentence and yet not even formulate it properly. None of these people up there are having a normal conversation with you. They are presenting a speech that was scripted over a period of time, to pass the most amount of emotion, nothing else. Well presented, well formated and produced. These aren't everyday emotions, these are performances in one way or the other. Which is why I have a very large reservation for someone who uses a tragedy to sell you a product. I simply can not trust someone saying they are in pain, but willing to stand in front of everyone and someone say, oh by the way, my pain is only bearable if you buy, pay, or support my services or people. They want to sell you a service, so they hired a spokesperson to convince you otherwise by presenting such a massive sob story that anything said against it is inhumane. That idea was planned, this reaction everyone is having, WAS PLANNED, and everything you see is a strategically done maneuver to try and produce a public opinion based on NOTHING tangible.

In short, if you continue to contribute to the whole Trump said such insensitive things, you played right into the hands of the DNC. You are, by all definition, manipulated by the DNC to think and support the most remote and unimportant topics. Unless you are part of that performance and you want to drive more smear material to continue a topic, that has nothing of value to offer. They effectively distracted you from the issues. Like not allowing the people to choose their candidate. Or like how Hillary has a massive list of considerable mishaps while already employed to serve the people, rather than an impressive one. Things that, although I don't like socialist Bernie, I believe Bernie was more honest and caring for this nation than Hillary. Things that shouldn't be ignored are suddenly just accepted. Oh well, Hillary is the Candidate nothing we can do. Right? B.S. the people are the single source of power in the U.S., USE IT! At least Bernie Supporters understand that much. The people are literally the power house, which is why so much money is spent on convincing you. If you really want to be an independent thinker. You vote for someone because of tangible ideas and important matters. Not based on these crappy stories. Vote for Hillary because you want her for what she offers. Vote for Trump for what he offers. Everything else, is just smear rubbed on your lens to try and blur the important subject matters. Without a clear picture you'll never make an informed and logical choice.

That's the kind of discussion these post should be followed by. Not people saying things like, "Well oh yeah, your candidate said this, or wore that dress or shirt." I mean really? Are you all that shallow over who you will consider for President, an individual who is presented with top secrets, nuclear launch codes and commands? I mean, not like it matters really, your votes don't pick presidents, but you at least influence the outcome of the Candidates chosen for the party and I'm not hearing enough anger over the Bernie getting burned by his own party simply because he wasn't the Committee's favorite pet. Ignoring the people's wishes and effectively showing you how corrupted the Political Party System is, and should be completely banned from being practiced altogether.

  11. +Luis Gonzalez Really? I hope you realize you are saying Trump is funding Russian hackers. As opposed to Hillary getting payments from corporations tied to Moscow.

As opposed to Hillary getting a nice payout to her husband in Moscow for a Speech.

As opposed to her opening the doors for Moscow to buy a Canadian Uranium Company, that is capable of producing large quantities of weapon grade Uranium, all while supposedly serving the American people's best interest.

She already had a position in politics. She made Millions out of her position. Using it to garner more money directly from Moscow all while handing the Russians all the little bits and pieces they needed to become openly violent and progress their war machines.

Interestingly enough, after her Uranium deal, not only did she get Moscow backed cash directly and indirectly, but Russia annexed Crimea and then began conflicts in Ukraine. Somehow, that just doesn't sit well with me.

What has Trump done in politics? Donated to candidates in the past? That's it? Well hell, I rather see what he does than bring Hillary to this and see her do the same thing all over again. Sell the U.S. to the Russian's, one violent piece at a time. At least his investments haven't been returned in countries annexing other countries or starting boarder disputes with others.

Before you choose to talk about the dirt one candidate has, don't forget that the other one has just as much, or probably more and worse. There are no angels in politics. It's the very reason why our Founding Fathers created a Constitution that limits government, not give powers.

  12. Okay, I've taken a pass with the ban rake to this mess, cleaning out (and blocking posters) of any references to Muslims being evil, references to cucks, references to "Killery" or "Hillary is a murderer," and suggestions of violence (toward anyone). Where appropriate, comments have been flagged for further scrutiny.

Not that what's left is an erudite discussion of political, social, or religious issues, but at least I can skim through it at the moment without my eyes bleeding.

  13. +Andreas Geisler Yeah, hadn't run across that epithet before. Frankly, making up pet names to mock groups of people (even political opponents) has always struck me as kind of a childish thing to do, whether it's "wingtards" or "teatards" or "Rethuglicans" or whatever else. I usually find the accompany content less useful, even when I agree with its sentiment.

  14. +Jesus Flores I don't think that anyone questions the right to free speech and free will but, just like you feel free to criticize Mr Khan over something you feel strongly about, so he has a freedom to criticize Mr Trump over things he feels strongly about.

  15. +Alice the Great The issue raised was not whether there are terrorists in the world, but whether blanket rejection of Americans who are Muslim, or Muslims who wish to come to America, as somehow being traitorous or out to destroy the people and laws of the country is supported by facts, or simply fear-mongering demagoguery.

Similarly, how is having a silence for one soldier an insult to other soldiers? By extension, having a round of applause for any public speaker is an insult to everyone else present or not present who is not being applauded.

  16. +Lavelle Jackson The point of the speech was not to say that Humayun Khan was unique, or the only soldier ever to die in the line of duty. The point was that there are some people who would argue that, because of their religion, he and his family should never have been allowed into this country, or should not be allowed to stay here, and yet he was willing to and did die for nation and those people.

We cry for and remember American war dead every Memorial Day, and all who have served every Veteran's Day. Nobody is taking away from that.

  17. +Lavelle Jackson Ignorance of how an organization works or what processes it uses is usually not considered a good job qualification in the business world. Until you get to government, where people seem to think that being an "outsider" who's never been personally involved in politics or governance or the public sector is an key qualification to be a good elected official.

  18. +MasterB8ing Monkey As a young lawyer, Clinton worked on behalf of disabled children. She got an insurance plan for children enacted. She favors preschool programs and improved education in the country. She has advocated for children throughout her life. She doesn't just hold a baby or two like Trump. She walks the walk.

  19. +Raul Rodriguez Thanks for your lengthy comment, though it was a bit daunting. I won't comment in detail (pity Google's poor servers), but a couple of comments:

    1. While not condoning the DNC's favoritism during the Democratic primaries, it's not surprising nor, IMO, all that scandalous. That DNC staffers should favor someone who has been steeped in Democratic politics and building relationships within the Democratic party, vs. someone who has been an Independent gadfly during his political career, is hardly headline news.

And, it's worth noting, the same dynamic was present in 2008 — and a broad public upsurge for Barack Obama meant that DNC institutional preference for Clinton didn't prevail. Sanders simply didn't build the relationships and broad electoral support he needed. That he raised to public attention a lot of interesting issues and ideas is seriously to his credit; that he did not win the nomination is not due to a deep conspiracy.

    2. I'd really love to see some citations for the "live and unedited" "public claims" that Clinton says she will create a totalitarian executive.

    3. As I understand it, the State Department was one of several agencies involved in the decision about Russia buying Uranium One; the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States group included the secretaries (or reps) from Treasury, Defense, Homeland Security, Commerce, Energy, Justice, and reps from the US Trade Representative and the Office of Science and Technology Policy. The NRC also had to (and did) approve separately. There's no indication that Clinton browbeat all those other officials into approval.

I generally don't find the whole "Oooh, people gave money to the Clinton Foundation" (lots of people do that) or "Ooooh, Clinton [either one] got a big check for a speaking engagement!" (that's pretty much what major political figures do) as proof of much of anything.

    4. 'The point of this game is what the candidates plan on doing while in power. Not a question of character or public appearance of character.' I do believe that character drives policy — formulation, choices, priorities — as much as intellect. Character also matters in effectiveness in bring that policy (foreign and domestic) to fruition. Trump's character and his public expression of it does not seem to be either admirable or effective.

Your dismissal of the Khan family as essentially selling a product (or selling themselves to let the DNC sell a product) does not seem to be much better than that.
