Candidates whose message boils down to "I am the only answer. I will do everything necessary to fix things. They are all out to get us, but I will deal with them" are not candidates to be trusted.
Sure, to some level that's how all politicians talk. But Trump takes things to a higher level: the enemies all around us, the enemies within us, the threat to America, to American values, to American lives — and it always circles back to what he will do, how he is the answer, how he will "Make America Great Again."
It's a powerful and scary escalation of the usual tale, and it's one we've seen before in far too many other countries. And we've seen what comes next, too.
