Today I always get a chuckle at the references to the rural Inland Empire of Southern California, with call-outs to landings in the Corona and Pomona areas, and the last-ditch attempt to nuke the Martians in the Puente Hills. These days that's all suburbia — back then it was tiny farming towns and dirt roads.
