Holy moly, this is … amazing. If not pathological. If you can believe the words out of the man's own mouth (right there on video), Donald Trump is obsessed with being seen as the biggest, best, brightest, most-loved, most-popular president ever. And not in a healthy way. Whether it's if people liked a speech, people attended his inauguration, or people voted for him, he is bound and determined to be recognized as the most beloved person in the room. No applause is too big to exaggerate, no slight too small to let slide.
One expects a certain degree of ego or narcissism (or, in the background, insecurity) on the part of anyone who would run for political office, let alone President. If there is a place where Donald Trump is a true front-runner in the pack, it is in those qualities.
This is not normal.
In his first major TV interview as president, Trump is endlessly obsessed with his popularity
The lengthy interview revealed a man fixated on his following and eager to provide evidence of his likability, even if that information doesn’t match reality.
You must love Dear Leader, and reserve your two minutes of hate for Barack Obama.
+Stan Pedzick I think he loves himself quite enough without my help.
(Or maybe not — as I said, there's something almost sad and desperate about being so desperate to get everyone else to acknowledge that he is the most loved person in the room.)
I can't read any of his statements without mentally adding in the odd 'yeah' or 'definitely' and putting it in the Rainmaker voice.
