Because suggesting that white people have intrinsic advantages in our society, and so also have blinders to problems that non-white (non-male, non-cis, non-straight) people have, is apparently, a racist and sexist thing to say in the eyes of certain, as they say, “snowflakes.”
Heroic Cop Suspended When Officers Complain After She Violently Attacks Their White Privilege
A Plainfield, Ind., policewoman was placed on administrative leave after she committed an act of blatant terrorism, injuring hundreds of white police officers by calling them out for their “white male privilege.”
A couple of things – Weber is actually the Assistant Chief of Police. And, there's a history of animosity toward Weber.

The assistant chief of Plainfield police is serving a two-week suspension for violating the department’s alcohol policy – but officers under her command say that’s not sufficient.
The president of the Plainfield Board of Police Commissioners told Call 6 Investigates that Assistant Chief Carri Weber admitted to getting behind the wheel of her department-issued squad car after drinking at a golf outing. Weber also admitted to carrying beer cans in her squad car.
Both actions are clear violations of the department’s alcohol policies.
As punishment, Weber was given a two-week suspension without pay and is banned from driving a department-issued car for 30 days.
That punishment, though, is far under what the department’s own policies say it should be, according to Plainfield police officers who reached out to Call 6 Investigates on condition of anonymity.
According to Plainfield Police Department written policy, “no officer shall operate a department vehicle within eight hours of consuming any alcoholic beverage. No officer shall operate a department vehicle or report for duty at any time with a blood alcohol level over .00 percent.”
The policy states there is “zero tolerance” for any officer operating a department vehicle with a BAC over .00 percent, and that violation of the policy is cause for automatic dismissal.

In essence, Weber has had a target on her back – and a bunch of officers who were waiting for any slip-up.

They ALL, INCLUDING THE BOSSES, should be subject to random drug testing.
And here in the corner we see white male fragility in action.
While I have no idea what's going on in Plainfield, this article is so far below the bar of any reasonable journalistic standard, that, respectfully, I think you should reconsider this one, Dave. If we wouldn't endorse and repost this kind of hack job rant from the right, then we shouldn't do it from the left, either.
+Barrett M Given the what struck me as the silliness of folk complaining about the initial statement, or that a condemnation of inadvertent racism is being treated seriously as a charge of racism itself, I felt the satirical tone of the article was warranted.
A more temperate view of the incident (including the YouTube video of it) can be found in the attached WaPo article.

Even in the WaPo article, which was more reasonably reported, mentioning the assistant police captain's prior history seems more ad hominem than relevant without Mr. Bredehoft's insight. This reminds me of the Ohio State student sit-in/safe-space incident. Language gets appropriated and tactics are turned against their innovators, this was inevitable.
Plainfield's shame aside, my comment was directed more at the journalism than its subject. Link the WaPo, not this guy.
