Data issued by the Washington, D.C.-based Beer Institute show Colorado produced 23.4 million barrels of beer last year, pushing longtime leader California to No. 2.
The gap between the two states was less than 600,000 barrels. Total U.S. beer output last year was 180,396,198 barrels.
