I do not have that problem, but I do have the problem of seeing a book and going “Oh, cool I really want to read that!” And forgetting I already have a copy of it at home in the not read pile.
+L Gorrie 1. Even though I have a Kindle, I still have a plethora of books that I have borrowed, have been loaned, or that, heck, I've still bought in physical versions.
2. But, yes, even on the Kindle, it's easy to get books "stacking up."

Interestingly I only have a Kindle now but both of these phenomena still occur. :-/
