I've tried Red Bull once, and thought it tasted like [insert your favorite "tastes awful" metaphor here]. But taste aside, Red Bull and its ilk are generally just bad for you — too much caffeine, too much sugar, too much other stuff, too much designed to be quaffed quickly.
And because they're "supplements" rather than "food" (which is what sodas and coffee are classified as), in the US the FDA exercises no control over them.

I had an energy drink years ago and it gave me no boost. I tried another brand years later with the same result. energy drinks have no effect on me, so I don't drink them. but what I find very disturbing is how these things are advertised and how many there are.
