I have a love-hate relationship with webrings.
I think they are a cool concept. A group of sites with a common theme, easily browsed through via a shared set of code and a site that lists them all.
I have rarely found many that were very worthwhile. That’s because I’ve yet to find a “Good Weblogs” or “Website Dave Hill will Like” webring. For obvious reasons. As a result, when I do browse through webrings I think to check into, I frequently find a whole bunch of sites that, frankly, don’t interest me (which is a polite way of saying that there’s a lot of folks out there who pretty much suck as web designers or content producers, YMMV ’cause mine sure does).
On the other hand, I am an Official Stats Ho, so I want to give people as many chances of finding this site as possible, so I belong to a wide array of web rings, as the Link List o’ Endless Links demonstrates.
On yet another hand, I’ve been considering dropping out of all or most of those webrings, since I never actually use all or most of them myself.
And on that note, Rey has started up a new webring, RPGamers (for blogs of people who game). So how can I refuse?
And I might actually scroll through it some time. Because it sounds like a cool concept …
Dave,
Great site. You make me laugh! Keep up the good work.
