Oh, look, two of my favorite things, frothing together again

1. Rick Santorum, who has now had at least 30 of his 15 minutes of fame, but who's decided to spend the next few years trying to convince the GOP (again) that he should be their candidate for president.

2. GOP crazy-town paranoia about the UN, and it taking over our sovereignty, and black helicopters, and blue helmets, and yellow stars, and green clover, and precious bodily fluids being polluted, and ….

Two taste treats that make you want to wash your mouth out with bleach.

  1. Well, presumably since they weren't able to stop enough black people from voting this year, now they're working on the disabled too? Of course, it's easy for him to deny recognition to less well-off disabled people because he knows he can afford to pay for whatever care his daughter will need – Very much a case of "I'm all right, Jack".

(I was going to add a line about taking that bleach and making him drink it, but that sort of thing doesn't seem to go down too well if you ever have to visit America…)

  2. No, it wasn't a good thing to say, sorry, but it was either him or me. I've seen this sort of thing happening here in recent years though and just makes me fume. In the last 5 or 6 years successive governments have been chipping away at the benefits that society can provide to those who most need it: Reducing funding for special needs teachers, then reducing funding to the schools, citing a lack of staffing; cutting allowances for home-care packages for the elderly and disabled, forcing them into privately-run homes or state-run homes with their assets essentially sequestered by the state as funding. I would go on but this isn't necessarily the post to do so, suffice to say that this to me is the sort of thing that Santorum (and others) are standing for – Surely the point of society is to protect those can't protect themselves but as human beings still have the capacity to provide to others what we all need; Friendship, Ideas, Love, Support, Inspiration. 🙁
