I designed a favicon for the Flea but could never figure out which directory to plunk it into to make it work!
In theory, it should go into the root directory of your server (or the root publically available directory, e.g., /dave/public_html/). Or maybe in both places. The documentation I’ve read isn’t very clear.
You can also put favicons into individual subdirectories — but IE doesn’t look for them there. Nor does it respect the LINK REL statement you can put in a page regarding where to look for favicons. (Firefox does both).
I saw some tutorial info on the page I link to above, but didn’t read it. There’s some more info on the subject linked from here.
