  1. In theory, it should go into the root directory of your server (or the root publically available directory, e.g., /dave/public_html/). Or maybe in both places. The documentation I’ve read isn’t very clear.

    You can also put favicons into individual subdirectories — but IE doesn’t look for them there. Nor does it respect the LINK REL statement you can put in a page regarding where to look for favicons. (Firefox does both).

    I saw some tutorial info on the page I link to above, but didn’t read it. There’s some more info on the subject linked from here.
