The Seven Deadly Sins as personified by Harvey comic book characters (with Richie Rich leading the pack as “Greed”). We even get their appropriate “Lord and Master,” too. Sweet.
The BoingBoing source for this reminds me of the assignment of the Gilligan’s Isle crew into these slots, too: Skipper (Wrath), the Professor (Pride), Ginger (Lust), Maryann (Envy), Gilligan (Sloth), Thurston (Avarice), and Lovey (Gluttony); the last is the weakest assignment, but arguable. You could also argue Gilligan for Gluttony and Lovey for Sloth, perhaps even better.
And for those who can never remember those Seven Deadly Sins, allow me to recommend the acronym PEWSLAG (Pride-Envy-Wrath-Sloth-Lust-Avarice-Gluttony).
Hmmmm … and for my own contribution to the canon under the Firefly subcategory, allow me to suggest Mal (pride), Simon (envy), Zoe (wrath), Wash (sloth), Inara (lust), Jayne (avarice), and Book (gluttony). That leaves Kaylee (who is, after all, the definition of what is good in the ‘verse) and River (who is, after all, the sinister evil overlord behind all the dark plots that befall them, as well as being a witch, as we well know).
Of course, we could get Simon for pride, Jayne for wrath (or sloth), and Kaylee for lust (or even gluttony), but I like my first impulse better, bearing in mind that wrath, avarice, lust, pride, and envy pop up in most of the characters at various times, which is part of what makes them so much fun.
