Last two nights have been dominated (for 3.5-4.5 hours each) with phone interviews with our prospective rector candidates. Afterwards, we had general consensus on who to drop, and on who to keep in, but one candidates has proved to be particularly thorny, with some folks feeling strongly the person should be kept on the list, and others feeling the person has a significant flaw that our parish can’t afford at the moment.
As is true with most things, I can see the position on both sides, and have changed my mind at least three times on what the best course would be.
All of which means, unless the bishop chimes in to indicate that candidate would not be a good idea, we’re meeting again Saturday afternoon to try and (prayerfully) thrash it out. Alas.
