I … think I’ll let Margie comment on this one. After I’ve plied her with Scotch. And a back rub.

Ummm…
Yeah…
Save some for me ‘k…scotch…not so much on the back rub.
That was for defenders. Controllers are what, 70% of the Defender numbers?
So Puck will be mostly useless…and those numbers were for 6 slotted SO’s. What is the point then.
And the point about just carring some anti psionic insp’s (at 25% instead of 22%) more than made the point. FF Defenders are going to be mostly useless, FF controllers doubly so.
*wonders off muttering*
Against my better judgment I read this un-sedated. I won’t say it on the boards but I will say it here. Statesman has his head
up his vision so far that he can’t even hear how stupid he sound. This post is not as bad as “we are changing Instant Healing to a crappy click power because casual gamers were complaining about the endurance cost” line he tossed out on the Regen nerf thread, but it is right up there.
Let me see if I got this Statesman “FF and Sonic are equivalent because against even level minions 6 lotted Deflection/Insulation/Dispersion fields nets you about the same damage as 6 slotted big three of Sonic. Forget about bosses don’t even think about AV and why are you trying to fight anything above +2 – that’s not in my vision. That’s not fun!”
Arrggg
Or as one person on the boards put it “You sound like a salesmen trying to sell us a bad car.”
If a large group of dedicated gamers tell you that 2/3 of FF’s powers are crap they probably are. If you then take many of there suggestions for improving FF and give them to Sonic you have a whole lot of pissed on players.
Can’t say that P-Siren will be deleted after this but she will be on the shelf until after all the fall-out. Fortunately Star Protector is going to be hit with comics radiation and develop sonic powers. Only question now is will he be Sonic/Sonic or Emp/Sonic.
Makes me wonder if there’s any incentive for me to restart my CoH account. I was at 32 on my FF Defender before I defected to WoW.
Anyone picking up CoV?
Frankly, my interest in CoV is pretty limited. I mean — my personal image is that of a hero, not a villain. Doing dastardly stuff as a steady passtime? I don’t think so.
As to I5 …
Change is pain. I think running certain ATs and power sets is going to be harder. Some things that could be done before will be much more difficult; other things won’t be.
I suspect, once things go live, that people (myself included, for all my own pissing and moaning) will adapt. Tactics will change. Difficulty levels will be reset. Respecs will be used.
But life will go on. I suspect some changes will still be rolled back before I5, and others will not. I suspect that the drop in Lt/Boss/etc. THs will make up for at least some of the Defense nerfs, and the reduction in in-mission XP loss will make the transition a lot less painful, too.
I don’t agree with some of the design changes (or their magnitude), but some of it was necessary, and it’s probably better to have taken a big gulp that can be spit back out over time, than to continually keep sipping at the nerf koolaid, to mix my metaphors.
