Ding! Crackle! Cough!

Caught Torchielle up with Hildegard last night (with a bit of help from T’lauro, thanks) at 39. Finished sixing out Blazing Bolt and Flame breath with some added damage. Because who doesn’t like more damage from their blaster?

The two of us also finished up (thanks to a mission full of Seventh Generation Paragon Protectors) the necessary pre-requisites for the Crey Pistol! Woot! Look, Ma! We’re controllers!

Even more so, since I finally decided I’m going to go with the Flame Mastery EPP at 41, starting with Char as an Immobilize. That, I think, will come in handy, as long as it doesn’t get in the way of my blowing things up.

  1. Hazoo! More damage!
Immobilize is an excellent way of keeping something out of melee range– or for backing out of melee range as part of the panic button repsonse.

  2. Immobilize has also caused me problems. My Controller reflexes (Illusion has no immobilizes, only holds, sleeps, or fear) have gotten me killed.
I toss an immobilize on a target and then forget it– it’s held, right? Wrong. Frequent Flyer miles to the nearest hospital.

  3. Yeah … that’s something I’ll have to watch.
I did test the gun out on a gray Mort atop the building by the last badge I picked up for the thing, in Galaxy. Not only did it not actually kill the critter, but I was dismayed to note that, yes, it’s just an Immobilize and the Mort could still do things to me.
I will get a nice Hold at 41 (with Char, from the Flame Mastery pool). I look forward to it.
But, yeah, my Psi-clone reflexes will need to be careful with that. Maybe the panic button is Power Thrust then Pistol (Immobilize) to keep them away. 🙂

  4. Eh? The freeze pistol is an immobilize?
I remember that as a hold. Hurm. Time to look at that again.

  5. Yes, with Puck it is all holds, so it too a bit of a shift with Ven that the big mass attack is an Immoblize and not a Hold. She has a Hold one attack that I target at whatever is not under the influence of Confusion. The rest are held as soon as the make a nice mass.
Immobolize is a good thing to toss to run away if need be.

  6. Alas, yes.

Description: You have uncovered Crey’s conspiracy, one that has been choking Paragon City for years. As a souvenir you have kept a Crey pistol for your own personal use.

The Crey CBX-9 Pistol immobilizes your target in an icy trap. Deals some damage over time and slightly Slows the target’s attack and movement speed even if they break free from the Immobilization. The Crey Cryo Pistol is extremely accurate, but it can only fire once every 25 minutes.

I had remembered it as Hold, too. But, frankly, it’s use was so intermittent (and PC spams Blinds (Holds) so frequently), it might not have been obvious.
And, also alas, when I get to a “Run Away!” point, the time lag on a Crey Pistol (and not being able to buff its Acc and Immob to handle serious bad’uns) makes it probably the last thing Torchy’s going to be tossing as she Exits, Pursued By Bears. (Plus it’s a single target, and the main time Torchy has to run is when Hildy goes down, at which point everyone’s looking my way and licking their chops).
