So I haven’t been playing much game at all, of any sort. Is that because I’ve been very busy, or because I haven’t found anything I was so enthused about that I haven’t been motivated to move beyond the busy? Why, yes.
Two, quite different, games I am keeping an eye on:
Marvel Heroes is basically Diablo with, well, Marvel Heroes. Looks like mindless fun with a F2P model. I am resisting dropping $20 in advance for extra costume options (ho-hum). The kicker may be if they make the game so grindy that you’re incented to buy XP boosters to make it bearable. On the other hand, a Brian Bendis overarching storyline, so maybe worthwhile.
Elder Scrolls Online is looking very nice — both in terms of very nice looks and in terms of MMO gameplay design that sounds like it could be up my (our) alley.
Meanwhile, Margie and I played a little WoW yesterday. Not feeling the burn, but it’s still nice to do. And Margie finally got her Ingress invite, so some goodness there, too.
I tried Marvel Heroes. It seemed ridiculous that Storm couldn’t fly and had to run around the battlefield. My interest vanished very quickly.
I played Ingress for a day. It wasn’t much fun in my suburban area.
I jumped back into Star Trek Online for the anniversary event, a tribute to the TNG episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise.” My roommate saw me playing and decided he would try it again, so we have a couple of lowbies to duo with.
I’m afraid I don’t have any good suggestions for you. Maybe that PC Gamer subscription will help.
:/
(Why does this thing strip the blank lines between my paragraphs? Boo!)
I’m pretty sure I saw Storm flying in Marvel Heroes beta reels (they are still in beta, aren’t they?).
Pulled up and played DCUO a bit the other evening. Still feel like I’m just key/button mashing.
Audrey and I have gotten quite a bit into Rocksmith.
We’re riffing off of February Album Writing Month’s “14 songs, 28 days”, and we’re trying to learn 14 songs in 28 days.
We bought her an Epiphone SG Bass and a second rocksmith cable, so we play duos in multiplayer.
Our setlist for the month is:
Judas Priest – Breaking the Law
Evanescence – Bring Me To Life
Blue Oyster Cult – Godzilla
The Darkness – I Believe In a Thing Called Love
