Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- GOP Rep Hands Out ‘Inflammatory’ Flier Saying Health Reform ‘Might Encourage’ Seniors To ‘Give Up’ – But she doesn’t really mean it. But she does. But she was angry when she wrote it. But she understands and supports people who are angry about it. But nobody’s threatening seniors. But she feels seniors are being threatened …
- Refusing to be shouted down, on rants against health care reform – A more cogent debate than anything you catch on soundbite TV and radio. And it’s still clear to me that the reform argument is much more solid than the do-nothing argument.
- Republicans screw up again: “Death panels” amendment was a Republican’s doing — and there’s a logical explanation – Put in by a conservative Republican who still supports the provisions whole-heartedly. But, of course, tell that Newt and Sarah and the GOP Congresscritters who are out for points not the American people.
- Well, What Did You Expect? – Rrg. ‘This wasn’t the economic version of trust but verify, but rather “trust but nag.”‘
- 406 – “Caruso Can’t Touch You”: A Road Map to Success – On the one hand, it’s easy to poke fun at something like this. On the other hand, there are some fine lessons here.
- Whiteout Preview… – Well, I like the posters better than the trailer, even if the tagline is goofy and Beckinsale is just too pretty for the role. The Miller homage is pretty cool, but Beckinsale looks more frightened than tough.
- For ‘Death Panels’ Before She Was Against Them? Palin Endorsed End Of Life Counseling As Governor – That’s terrific, Sarah (and Newt). So now we know it’s not stupidity or ignorance, it’s hypocrisy and lying for political gain. Excellent.
- Whole Foods comes out against health care reform, calls it “socialism” – Wow. I don’t know that I’ll stop shopping at WF (I don’t think the CEOs for Safeway or Kroger are probably any different), but it’s good to know. That and that a good veggie diet will get me to 100 or older without any diseases.
- David Frum: The reckless Right courts violence – A good point: if you really do believe that Obama is all these things, then violence is justified. By insisting that they are so and using that rhetoric, you are encouraging someone, somewhere, to take that next step.
- Report: Fox News gives opponents of health care reform a 6-to-1 advantage. – Fair and balanced my ass.
- Withering Flower – Neither logo is at all attractive — and neither is the new programming direction. Just as well we don’t get it on our cable system.
- Ken Ham, on the air, LYING again – Evidently, according to Ken Ham, Christian scientists who don’t support him are neither True Christians nor True Scientists. Nice!
- Judge: RealDVD is totally illegal as per the DMCA – Sort of like, “You have freedom of speech, but no freedom to remove the gag tied across your mouth.” Lovely.
- Shocking news: Sony to sell e-books in open format! – Excellent. I hope this will put some pressure on Amazon and their Kindle.
- J.C. Penney In Manhattan Harbinger Of Fashion Apocalypse, Fat Suburbanites [New York Times] – I’m glad I wasn’t the only one appalled by the tone and language of the piece.
- Microsoft bilking customers on hard drives – I’m shocked, shocked to discover Microsoft is trying to create a closed hardware systems with huge profit margins on the parts.
- NASA asteroid-tracking program stalled due to lack of funds – NASA’s always a favorite first place to cut money. That’s very unfortunate.
- Look Kids, Comics! – Ooooh … for Bill Willingham I might trek up to Boulder. I’ve met him at SDCC, but it’s been years (it was back in his Ironwood days).
- The 20 Greatest Shows Canceled By Fox Before Their Time – A pretty remarkable list.
- Sarah Palin doubles down on ‘death panels’ – Andy Barr – POLITICO.com – Summary of argument: “Nuh-uh! Did, too!”

Your tweets in re: new posts no longer have the bit.ly link?
Eek. Took me a minute to figure out that you meant that the tweets of my posts here were no longer including a link back to the blog. I think I’ve fixed that, but … well, I’ll have to try something.
I’m sorry – I had momentarily lost any ability to write in English. You seem to have fixed the problem, so I guess my point came across. [grinning]
Yes — and a zillion thanks for pointing it out, since I probably wouldn’t have noticed for a few days, then been *really* torqued.
