So Virginia is hopping on the bandwagon of the mandatory ultrasounds before abortion. And … “Because the great majority of abortions occur during the first 12 weeks, that means most women will be forced to have a transvaginal procedure, in which a probe is inserted into the vagina, and then moved around until an ultrasound image is produced.”
Without consent, of course. Before they can have a legally permitted medical procedure, they must be physically violated for no medical reason, and in fact no reason other than some Republican lawmakers think they should be shamed into not proceeding.
Of course, the GOP supporters of the bill handwave it aside, with one noting it's just something someone who is making this "matter of lifestyle convenience" has to put up with, and another telling a colleague that a woman seeking an abortion had already consented to being "vaginally penetrated when they got pregnant."
Disgusting doesn't begin to describe my feelings over this. #ddtb

Virginia Poised To Enact ‘State-Sponsored Rape’ Law Forcing Women To Be Vaginally Probed Before Abortions
Earlier this month, a bill requiring women to receive an ultrasound before they can receive an abortion passed the Virginia senate, and it recently cleared a state house committee with an overwhelming…

i've had one of those ultrasounds not for an abortion, but in the ER to check on the baby early on. They said it wouldnt hurt but it did. And it made me bleed. They can do the regular ultrasounds as early as 5 weeks, but it's just easier to see everything thats going on with the internal ultrasound. and let me tell you the wand was not as thin as the one shown.
That's … just even peachier. Thanks.
