Lake Effect takes on James Ridgeway’s article in the Voice.
Ridgeway’s lurid fantasies come from no known war plan, only nightmare scenarios meant to justify his own vision of a belligerent West continually “antagonizing” the Muslims into “jihad attacks from all over”. Here, again, is the curious framing device the Z-maggers use where the US is an actor, and all other parties are victims/reactors. Is it just possible that, antagonism or no, we would still be facing jihad attacks? Of course not, because they are purely a result of our decisions and actions. Only the US is an independent actor. It’s a strange, twisted worldview that I find almost Nietzschean in its assumptions about the US as a persona with free will, and all other actual nations and people in the world having no free will but only reactions to US choices.
Good stuff.
