I scored a 51 on the Barksdale Foundation Self-Esteem Index, which indicates a serious handicap, and is just one point above a crippling condition. You’ve probably stopped reading this already. I know you’re all laughing at me. Figures.

Don’t feel bad – I scored a 50. And on their related stress test I suffer from a crippling level of stress in my life. I guess I just don’t know it.
I saw results of some testing of kids today that showed kids who couldn’t solve the problem given to them still had high levels of self esteem about their abilties (even when their abilities were lacking). Not a good thing if we want to have our students run scientific endevours. “Yes, I know the patients died, but I feel very good about what I’ve contributed to the test.” Bleh!
I’ve seen similar studies indicating that confidence in abilities does not necessarily correlate with the abilities, especially in intellectual realms.
I scored a 50 too. I know I’m not the most confident person in the world, but I wouldn’t say my lack of self-esteem was crippling. Makes me sound like an agoraphobic troll.
