Well, it’s Wednesday, but tough. here they are:

1. Fast-food or regular (sit-down) restaurant?

Well, Tokyo Joe’s, my standard lunch spot, is somewhere in-between. For Margie and me, both. We’ll hit fast food on the weekends during errands, but we’ll also go out to dinner at real sit-down sorts of places.

2. If or when you go to fast-food places…drive-through or walk in?

Again, both. If we’re on our way from point A to point B, we’ll drive-thru. If it’s part of a set of activities (e.g., weekend errands) where we’d get to the next one too soon to finish our grub, we’ll walk in. (Kitten loves playing in the play room at Chikfilet.)

3. Any restaurant food…eat in or take out?

I prefer eat in. I don’t like cold (or even luke-warm) food, as a preference, and I really don’t like going to pick up take-out. I’d rather either have them deliver it, or else go there and eat in.

KFC is an exception to this, but even there I’m ready to immediately dig in before it congeals cools.

4. You are at a restaurant and are too full to finish your meal. Do you leave it, or ask to have it wrapped up to go?

We usually ask for a box. Margie does this a lot, and is 99% more likely than me to actually eat the leftovers. But, then, she likes cold pizza, too.

5. Where does most of your food come from…restaurants or the grocery store?

Grocery store. No question. Margie (and, sometimes, I) cook meals.

6. Do you shop for food at a supermarket or a convenience store?

We have a dizzying array of supermarkets around us, so why pay twice as much for a smaller selection at the local 7-11?

7. You have 13 items in your cart. Do you try to go through the *12 Items of Less* express line or grit your teeth and get into the regular line?

No question but the latter. That’s part of the social contract, IMO.

8. If you shop at a store that has them, do you use the regular or self-scan checkouts?

Heh. I love using the self-scan. Even if it doesn’t take any less time, I find it entertaining (and it gives me an illusion of control).

9. Paper or plastic – Part One…what kind of bags do you take?

Paper, usually, since they make better kitchen trashcan liners.

10. Paper or plastic – Part Two…which payment method do you use when buying food?

Our church has deals with the local supermarkets whereby they sell scrip and get back a percentage of what’s spent. It’s a neat program (doesn’t cost us anything extra, except a little convenience after services), and Margie is dilligent about using it. It used to be paper scrip, but Safeway is now doing it via gift cards, which makes it plastic.

If it’s just me shopping, I use plastic. I find it more convenient.

  1. I suppose it depends on whether each needs to be scanned, or the person just needs to hit “15” and scan one of them. Of course, the labor to de-cart and bag 15 widgets is no different from 15 different items. On the other hand, if its 15 oranges in a bag, that should count as a single item.

Or perhaps a more Golden way to do it is, would you be torqued if the person in front of you were doing it?
