Here’s a lovely Jordanian “glossy brochure” site about the dreams, aspirations, and hopes of Palestinian children, and how the world must support them in said dreams, aspirations, and hopes.
By overthrowing the utterly corrupt and kleptocratic Palestinian Authority? By ending the arbitrary jailing of Arafat’s opponents and death squad killings of “collaborators”? By countering the outside influence of Arab oligarchs who use their wealth to buy weapons and fund hate schools, but not to provide material support (let alone refugee relocation) to Palestinians? By trying to reform a society that lionizes the assassins of children and pregnant women and bus drivers and innocent civilians?
No, silly. By ending the Israeli occupation. I mean, duh. That’s the only thing that needs to happen, right? Only then will Palestinian children be able to become (according to the ad campaign) the next Lincoln. The next Einstein. The next Picasso. The next Mother Teresa. The next Gandhi.
Gandhi?
Yeah, you know, Gandhi? The guy who dedicated his life to a united India, home to Muslims and Hindus alike? The guy who preached religious tolerance, and was assassinated for it by a fanatic? The guy who believed it was more important how one lived than what one achieved? The guy who remained passionately dedicated to non-violent resistance and moral suasion, even in the face of violent oppression by a tyrannical outside power?
Yeah, that Gandhi.
