Florida’s “Dept. of Children & Families” (Child Welfare) has been under fire for years for gross incompetency and screw-ups. Jeb Bush came into office promising, among other things, to improve the sitch.
He has not.
There was little 5-year-old Rilya Wilson, whom DCF has “misplaced.” Nobody knows where she is. Nobody visited her Miami foster home for fifteen months, see? And nobody can get a straight answer from anyone (including DCF) as to what hapened.
Or there’s little 2-year-old Alfredo Montes. Alfredo was killed by his foster parents. His DCF caseworker reported that he was just fine — even though the report was filed on the same day as authorities believe he was killed (or, perhaps, was already dead). The report, of course, was a fabrication.
And now this.
I don’t know if Jeb Bush will lose reelection for flubbing up this “top priority.” To be honest, I really don’t care.
I just want the children protected, damnit!

Damn. And I thought Jeb was the smarter, more reliable Bush. OK, I still think that.
