The site has changed, but the Saturday Scruples stays the same. Well, no, it actually changes each week, but you get the idea.
1. You’ve agreed to sublet your apartment to someone. Someone else offers you an extra %50 a month to give it to her. Do you?
If I’ve signed something (which I would do in any actual sublease arrangement) — or even shaken hands on it — then no. A deal’s a deal.
2. Your boss congratulates you for a brilliant suggestion and hints at a promotion. A subordinate gave you the idea. Do you mention this to the boss?
Hrm. Yes, I would. I would at least share the credit.
3. You’re a college basketball star with high grades. An infertile couple offers you $4000 to donate semen/an egg. Do you agree to do it?
Heck, I’m distracted for the moment by the idea of being a collee basketball star …
Yeah, I probably would. I might even do it now, if someone were that interested in my genes — and if I were convinced that the couple in question (regardless of why they’re “infertile”) would do a good job of raising a child.
