Le CentralTook Margie last night to our favorite local restaurant, Le Central, for dinner. Tres yum, as always. Margie had an amazing bouillabaisse overflowing with crab and mussels and chunks o’ fish. I had to settle for a very tasty leg of lamb with a tomato-caper relish. A scrumptuous Chateauneuf-du-Pape split between the two of us. Dessert, of course.

Staggeringly good, which is why we staggered away from the restaurant. Le Central has been our restaurant-of-choice since we first came to Denver — Provence-flavored food, big servings, good wine list, decently affordable. Impossible to go wrong.

We had a very friendly, but remakably slow, waiter, and we also got to be a guinea pig, as the first name entered into their new computer system for tracking “frequent fliers” (literally — you earn 1 United mile per dollar spent). That was the only down side to the evening. Slow service has been a problem there for a while, but never such that we don’t keep coming back.

That and it ran too late. And I’m sooooo sleepy this morning, as is Margie (from whom I just got a call, since Kitten is up and about).

It was a good opportunity to give Margie one of her gifts (her true birthday isn’t until Sunday, so she gets the rest then). I’ll mention it tomorrow, since some folks who read this might get to see it tonight.

Many thanks to Jackie & Doyce who stayed with Kitten and made sure that the house didn’t burn down around her.

God, I’m still full. And I want to go back for more …

  1. Hey, Olive Garden has good breadsticks. And their soup-salad lunch is pretty decent (or at least it was the last time I went to one). And I (eventually) asked Margie out on our first date in an Olive Garden.

But, damn, Le Central is gooooooood vittles.
