Spotted it on Anne‘s page, so had to play catch up. It’s this last week’s Tuesday This-or-That.

1. Real or artificial tree? While I have a philosophical preference for a live, real tree, the logistics of it are just not possible — which makes it nice that artificial trees have so many redeeming virtues, like lights pre-wrapped on them, bendable branches, and no sappy, poky mess.

2. Real or artificial wreath? We have a real berry wreath this year, which is working out well. Margie’s made artificial ones in the past that were nice, too. Less picky about this.

3. Open gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day (or do you do another holiday such as Hannukkah)? Growing up, it was always on The Day. Fortunately, that’s how it works for Margie’s family, too. We do the morning at her folks’ house, then afternoon gift opening with my family. We also have a tradition of doing a night-before-departure-to-California gift opening, just us.

4. “It’s A Wonderful Life” or “Miracle on 34th Street”? I’ve only seen the former once, but I’d give it a B- vs. Thirty-fourth Street’s C.

5. Outdoor decorations, or just indoors? Aside from the wreath (and a door mat), it’s all indoors. We don’t have a convenient outdoor outlet to plug lights into, and I have to confess that doesn’t really bother me all that much.

6. “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” or “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”? I enjoy both songs, but the latter’s TV show is the best.

7. Miniature lights or the larger ones? Definitely miniature. Definitely not automated blinking.

8. Store-bought or hand-made ornaments? I have some hand-made ones (mostly from my school teaching days) that are special, but also some very nice store-bought ones. probably the former, mostly.

9. TV Specials: The Grinch or Charlie Brown? Both are fun, but I’d have to go with the Grinch (the animated one, not the movie). I just like the song.

10. Will you be staying at home for the holiday, or going visiting? Visiting home …
