I’m shocked — shocked! — to discover that a movie like The Two Towers is allowed to be released when it has so much Offense to God in it, according to the Good People at the ChildCare Action Project. This Offense includes:
- unholy influence on thinking
- tale of evil control over “good”
- sorcery to defeat beast
- gaiaism (talking trees), repeatedly
- psychic premonitions and possessions, repeatedly
- “all-knowing wizard”
- unholy apparitions
- the “undead” terrorizing others
- mockery of the Transformation
- sorcery to defend
- sorcery to do battle with evil beast
- resurrection, mockery of the Transformation
- casting out demon
- miraculous reverse aging
- creatures claiming immorality
- crystal ball sorcery
- foretelling future
- demon possession
Especially that gaiaism stuff — I knew there was something offensive about those talking trees!
Though, to be fair, it got downchecked even more in the Wanton Violence/Crime category.

Immorality or Immortality? Either works, though I don’t recall anyone in the movie claiming to be immoral…
Just for fun I looked up what the CAP folks thought of the new Uber-christian movie “Left behind II: Tribulation Force”. Big red light. They were upset about Satan Saying bad things about the Bible. From their little W.I.S.D.O.M chart anything that makes into the PG range is BAD.
Though they did like the message of the movie.

The Maoist’s were probably routing for Sauron, and Saruman, and think that it’s too bad that Mao couldn’t create the Uruk’s during the “Great leap Forward” of the “Cultural Revolution”. Nothing more nifty then seeing a band of Uruk’s waving there little red books.
But then wouldn’t the Uruk’s kill and eat their Mao benefactors, much like what they did to the Orc’s?
