Whilst we were gone, Google bought Pyra, the Blogger and BlogSpot people.
I have no idea what this means (and none of the commentators on it seem to, either), but it’s certainly a Big Event in the blogosphere. If nothing else, it may be Google trying to stay a step ahead of Lycos and AOL, both of which are introducing blogging tools.

I think we’ll see that blogspot gets faster, for one thing. Datamining — which Google does better than anyone else — will be applied to blogs and that should prove very interesting.
Folks wonder if Google will give preferential ratings to its own hosted blogs, over folks like us.
Still, as you say, it’s interesting.
Well, Blogspot should definitely become more robust.
Google’s past behavior makes me relatively confident that they will not play favorites except where it makes technical sense.
