Imagine that — the Iraqi government, which is taking the lead in “assigning” voluntary Human Shields who have traveled to Iraq, is more interested in protecting communication centers and oil refineries than, say, orphanages.
Oh, yeah, and they seem to be particularly interested in protecting targets that are next to military bases.
Imagine that.

The shields are fools; the US government cares not one whit about their existence, so they should just up and leave. They’ll die just as easily as Iraqis will.
Their hearts are in the right place, but, unfortunately, at the wrong juncture of history. Not with cowboys running the show.
For obvious reasons, the US government cannot “care one whit about their existence.” Clearly, though, the Iraqi government doesn’t, either.
I do admire their willingness to put their lives on the line. It’s a shame they haven’t marched into Iraq before this.
