It’s This-or-That Tuesday, the Arts Edition.
1. Poetry or prose? I prefer the latter, though there is some of the former I enjoy.
2. Funky modern art or the older, “classic” variety? Let’s just say I’d rather spend a week in the Tate Britain than an hour in the Tate Modern.
3. Sculptures or paintings? Hmmm. I like both. Can’t decide.
4. Theatre: exuberant musical or serious drama? Probably the former. We don’t see as much theatre as we should.
5. Ballet or modern dance? Let’s see, root canal or migrane headache? Yeesh.
6. Movies: major studio or indie? Probably the former, since I tend to go to the movies for entertainment, not Thought-Provokment.
7. Authors: Shakespeare or Dr. Seuss? The latter, probably, though I’d rather see a play by the former.
8. TV: PBS or A&E? A&E. Though PBS has its moments.
9. Music: Beethoven or Beatles? Depends on my mood.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You are a contributing member of your favorite art museum, and visit on a regular basis. They announce a new, temporary special exhibit by an artist surrounded by controversy…this person’s work and/or political views offend you. Do you stop supporting the museum, or just stay away during the time the exhibit is there? Well, I’d likely stay away, unless there was other stuff I wanted to see in the meantime. It might affect my support of the art gallery — I suppose it would depend on how offended I was, or how often this sort of thing happens.
