Holy Moley.

Yeah, I’m still alive, but, yeesh, we suddenly went from hectic and harried to Utterly Saturated.

Friday, long working day for me (to make up for the “day off” on Good Friday). No game that night, but we managed to fill up the time, somehow.

The big focus of the weekend was the Seder dinner we were having down at the church, which Margie [was] volunteered to take the lead in cooking. Nineteen briskits, marinated and cooked and all of them sliced (by yours truly), chicken soup by the unliftable barrels full, all a big success, but a huge chunk o’ time.

Played Pulp Adventures Saturday evening … which turned into not getting to be until 1, which turned into me getting up at 6 or so with Kitten.

We got home from the (wildly successful and quite tasty) Seder dinner last night around 9ish, put Kitten down, and that’s when Dave realized he really needed to do taxes.

Which started, of course, with (a) finding last year’s hardcopy taxes, (b) finding all the various check registers, and (c) sifting through all the paperwork. Got finished with a first pass, and up to bed around 1 again — albeit with a smile on my face, as Uncle Sam owes us money.

Today my boss flies into town. Which means dinner out tonight, and two days pretty much shot. Tomorrow night I’ve got a meeting to go to, Wednesday and Thursday nights we’re assisting with various Holy Week services, and then, of course, we’re having folks over for dinner for Easter.

The day after which, Margie goes in for gall bladder surgery. Her mom’s flying out Wednesday night to help with the convalescence and child care, but (a) that leaves me on that duty Tuesday (Jackie’s looking after Kitten, at least, most of Monday), and (b) that means we have to get the guest room cleaned up.

And then the following Saturday we’re having other folks over for dinner.

And then …

Well, somewhere in there, I think I need to probably sleep a little. Don’t know where, don’t know when, but, as I said, yeesh.

And the maddening part is, it’s not like any of this is Bad Stuff. It’s all (with the exception of the gall bladder, and the taxes) stuff we want to do. Just … maybe … not so much at once.

Things slow down real soon, right?

  1. I was going to say that you were a bit Focused saturday at Attacktix. I didn’t know that your entire dance card had been filled for the weekend.

    I’ll think good thoughts for Margie’s surgery…

  2. Thanks. Yeah, I was out at Attacktix only because Margie was busy with folks in the kitchen cooking brisket, and Randy had sent that note around.

Of course, I was also focused because I was trying to watch Katherine. 🙂

    Thanks, t’ya both.

  3. For those who weren’t there, Katherine was crawling on the floor on her belly. I think she was saying, “Creep, creep, creep.” When asked, she’d say, “I a catahpillah!”

“Are you going to turn into a beautiful butterfly?” I asked, in my best Bug’s Life voice.

    “No!!! I a catahpillah!!!

    And so it goes.
