Various doings in my life …
- New Boss came to town for a couple of days. A good, relatively relaxed meeting. Nothing major to hit, just a chance to get some face time. Since 2 of his 5 direct reports are back in Pasadena with him, he’s aware that those of us in the hinterlands need more attention.
He also talked about my doing some more traveling to visit both offices where my directs are, and offices of other peer managers in the organization, to see how things are going and to make sure that they’re aware of the services we provide. First the US, then Europe. Hmmmm.
- Dinner (with the Boss Man and Margie) at The Fort on Monday night. As always, good food, good service, good view, huge bill.
- It being Holy Week, Margie and I are doing a couple of evening churchy things. Last night I was down at the church doing readings for the Tenebrae service they were holding. And, it being Holy Week, it was all roundly depressing (anything that starts out with three readings from Lamentations tends to be that way), hurtling toward Good Friday, with that glimmer-through-the-keyhole light of Easter just visible enough to give one hope.
Tonight it’s Margie’s turn, as she does chalice ministry for a Maundy Thursday service (complete with foot washing).
The “bright side” to Holy Week is that I get tomorrow off (having worked the extra hours last week).
- Got some sort of cold — scratchy throat, lots of congestion. Been sucking zinc lozenges since last night. Actually slept pretty well, which is a good sign.
- Even as we get ready for Easter dinner at our house, with a host of guests (so to speak), we’re also getting things prepped for Margie’s gall bladder surgery on Monday. Jackie will be watching after Kitten much of the day, whilst I pace frantically and chain smoke (at least metaphorically) in the waiting room. If all goes well, I should be taking her home that evening. She’ll be pretty much out of commission for the week, so I’ll be staying home with her through Wednesday; her mom is flying out Wednesday night. Gonna be a long week.
And that’s what’s new with me.

Gall bladder surgery is cake, don’t worry. I was on the golf course the day after getting out of the hospital. 🙂
“Doctor, will I be able to play golf after this operation?”
“Of course! No problem!”
“Great, ’cause I’ve never been able to play before.”

I hope Margie is feeling better fast. Yikes, just remembering my gallbladder attacks makes me break out into a sweat. Tell her the operation is totally worth the down time.
Stan — the New Boss totally enjoys good food, and this was no exception. (So do and did I, for that matter.)
Marn — Thanks. She’s only had one serious GB attack, whilst we were in the UK, and that was enough to push all this activity as fast as we could.
