Does anyone else find it ironic that the Pope beatifiies someone who stopped the spread of Islamic empire and villifies another who is, in effect, doing the same?
Hmmm. That’s an interesting perspective — though (and I say this as a “pro-war” individual) the immediate threat was a lot different this time out than with the Turks on the march.
On the other hand, if people in a few hundred years start performing miracles in the name of St George (shudder), I suppose the Pope of that time will consider beatifying him, too.
