Sucks.
Okay, that’s a bit harsh. I’ll just say it’s not my cuppa.
Hot on the heels of Coke’s faboo success with Vanilla Coke, Pepsi has come out with its own vanilla drink.
Problem is, it tastes like — well, cheap cream soda.
Pepsi’s awfully sweet to begin with (one reason I like the bite in Coke better, and Vanilla Coke borders on being too sweet for me). Adding in vanilla (and additional sweetness to cover it) doesn’t help any.
Stick with the Vanilla Coke.
Better yet, go to an ice cream shop where they can make you a peach-flavored coke, or the like.
Um … not sure about a peach-flavored Coke, but I definitely prefer Coke-with-vanilla-syrup-added to Vanilla Coke in a can.
Yes…
Some of the local Coffee places that have the flavored syrup’s (and Coke) also work. Chocolate-coke is most tasty!
Well, heck, I have a bottle of vanilla syrup at home, too. But that’s, like, work.
(Hmmmm … Hazelnut Coke?)
No no no… you’re right. It tastes like ass.
Not that I’ve ever tasted ass to compare, but it’s how I imagine it would taste like…
Then again, I’d probably be lucky if it tasted as good as Vanilla Coke/Pepsi.
Bah, just stick with the base drinks.
Someone the other day (might have been Lileks on the radio) opined that he never tries non-baseline soda variations, because as soon as you begin to love ’em, wham, they get rid of them or reformulate them or something.
Margie still sadly recalls the old Lo-Cal Pepsi with lemon juice in it.
>as soon as you begin to love ‘em, wham, they get rid of them or reformulate them or something.
About 20 year ago, I recollect, Frito-Lay come out with a new type o’ corn chip: bacon flavor, it were. Best durn corn chip I ever done et. So what does they do? They up an’ stop makin’ ’em, that’s what! Now, all us old codgers got is a fond memory. (And chili cheese flavor o’ corn chips, o’ course.)
Never been much into the chili- or bacon-flavored chips.
Lays Au Gratin chips, on the other hand (a/k/a, the Chips of Death), were bingeworthy on a once-per-annum basis. Alas, they seem to have disappeared, too.
No, wait … delving into the Lay’s web site (whatever did we do before the Internet?), I see that “WAVY LAY’S® brand Au Gratin Potato Chips” do still exist as a product. I just wish they carried them at our store.
Or maybe I’m glad they don’t.
