Friday evening we drove our old college-era pal, Chris Miller, from downtown where he’d been attending a conference up to Boulder to visit with the Sutherlands. Lots of good time ensued, including some fine pizza and street magic downtown on Pearl St.
Yesterday evening was our Going Away Party for Rey and Jules. His firm is closing their Denver operations and offered him a position in Austin, Texas. No other jobs being in the offing, and a good relocation package, they had no choice but to go along with it (and if one must go to Texas, Austin is one of the less awful places to be). So we had the Testerfolk, Randy, Stan, Lori & Dave, and Juli’s folks up for a pleasant evening of Russian, Cuban, and Tex-Mex food (courtesy of Margie) along with plenty of beer, cider, wine, and (ahem) Goldschlager, not to mention “Harry Potter Uno” and “Apples to Apples.” Very, very fun, and something that made it clear we need to have a Margie Gras some time in the near future.
Still, it was leavened with the knowledge that Rey and Jules are, anticipated visits back up here notwithstanding, out of our active local life. Which is, inevitably, a sad thing.
Today was much more sedate. I raked leaves in the front. I was then going to do some cleaning in my closet (“Look! I’ve reached the late 2000 stratum!”), but Margie sacked out for a nap. So I watched Kitten’s new Lion King DVD with her (Lord, what a bloody film), and just generally relaxed.
Which does have much to say for it.
For completeness’ sake, I recall that Doyce also brought over some very fine “white chili,” which was most enjoyable. We also still have his crock pot …
BTW, Ways to make yourself really frelling hungry.
Step 1: Get Mojo Sauce on you jacket.
Step 2: Wear said jacket to work without noticing that you have Spilled Mojo sauce on you jacket.
Step 3: Have said jacket in your cubical (after trying unsuccessfully to get the Mojo sauce washed off) and smell Mojo Sauce all day.
Step 4: Wish that there were a Cuban restaurant somewhere within a 30 minute radius of you.
The good thing is you’ve got a tupperware container of Mojo Sauce at home waiting for you.
Thanks Margie!
Last night was yummy goodness.
Found some good crusty bread from the bakery acrossed the street, marinated porkloin, and Mojo. It was more the worth the torture of smelling it all day.
Again..Thanks Margie!
