This goes on my wish list. Though, to be honest, that much money would probably better go to one (or two, or three) of the DVD sets on my real wish list.

This goes on my wish list. Though, to be honest, that much money would probably better go to one (or two, or three) of the DVD sets on my real…
I would order one today but it would never make it across the border into Canada.
What, you don’t have enough trouble already with airport security?
Heh.
Do they even allow full-sized umbrellas on airplanes any more?
Dave…If you did get this, you could change your name to Dave Steed.
Now the Bentley is a whole other problem…
I’d need a bowler, too.
According to the Master List of Evil Stuff , umbrellas are, in fact, allowed (after they are checked to make sure they aren’t sword canes or the like).
Actually, looking at that list, there are a few things that are allowed now that I hadn’t realized, including tweezers, nail clippers, knitting needles, nail files, scissors with blunted tips, and corkscrews. (Corkscrews are, at least, a change from the immediate post-9/11 days .)
Ice axes, ice picks, swords, sabers, nunchakus, shuriken, spear guns, flare guns, cattle prods, blasting caps, gas torches, tear gas, baseball bats, and box cutters are still right out. Go figure. I blame Ashcroft, the rat bastard, for not being able to take my shuriken aboard.
Tools, interestingly, including screwdrivers (except for eyeglass repair) and wrenches, have to be checked.
I did find interesting this little bit:
If you bring a prohibited item to the checkpoint, you may be criminally and/or civilly prosecuted or, at the least, asked to rid yourself of the item. A screener and/or Law Enforcement Officer will make this determination, depending on what the item is and the circumstances. This is because bringing a prohibited item to a security checkpoint—even accidentally—is illegal.
So be sure to leave those shuriken at home!
So an umbrella with a sword is illegal, but not an umbrella that sprays knockout gas or has retractable helicopter blades? Oswald Chesterfield Cobblehill could be your new name! Waukk! (No derby, though. Just a top hat!)
Nothing on the list about umbrella blades, but I suspect knockout gas would fall in the same category as tear gas and mace …
Dave, you would look determendly dapper in Bowler hat.
And I like to drink champagne, too.
Dave – you should add one of the wedding pic to the side bar – a top hat if almost as good as a bowler.
Heh. I don’t have scans of those. I should do that, some time.
No, they won’t ship to MA, since they’re illegal here.
But I do work in RI and have many of my packages delivered there…
