Is Hello Kitty a rip-off of the Belgian Musti the Kitty?

Or are they both rip-offs of Miffy the Bunny?

Or did the guy who designed Miffy design Hello Kitty for Sanrio?

You decide.

All I know is, Katherine likes both Hello Kitty and Miffy (as do the Japanese), but I find the latter to be much less aesthetically offensive, for some reason.

Now, don’t get me started on Maisy.
