  1. Indeed. Commenting speed is vastly improved even without using the dynamic option under 3.11.

    BTW, I’ll be interested to hear your impressions of the dynamic option. It’s caused quite a stir in the MT community it seems. Personally, it feels tacked-on and kludgey to me, but I’ve not played around with it too much as the couple of sites still running MT that I support aren’t big enough to make implementing it worth the effort.

  2. It’s definitely not elegant in design, being a parallel rendering engine (in PHP rather than Perl) to the “normal” static design, albeit one that relies on an existing package (Smarty).

    For the sake of that elegance, it might have been better to do the whole system that way, except for all the stuff it might have broken. And it may be that’s the direction MT will go in the future.

    That said, my testing so far finds it pretty solid. So far. And since 75% of the effort has been from a botched installation (on my part), it’s not something I’d shy from experimenting with. Indeed, it’s probably better (based on my own experience thus far) to try it out on a smaller blog than on a biggie.
